commemorative from
Martha's Vineyard. Cottage City was on Martha's Vineyard (1880-1907), a
settlement of white cottages and site of many camp meeting for vacationers.
Changed name to Oak Bluffs in 1907. There are a few old glaze flakes at the

Rare and unique two piece presentation Bird Bath. Marked
in blue on the column, "DONATED BY/DUNCAN POTTERY/AMORY, MISS". The Duncan
Pottery started in the early 20th century in the manufacturing of flower pots
and molasses jugs. It was started by Joseph Duncan and his wife. The basin is
dedicated in blue to the, "AMORY LIONS CLUB/AMORY, MISS". The piece is further
accented with blue bands top and bottom of the column. Extensive hand scribed
tooled accents at the base. Nice detailing to the pie crust edge of the basin.
Just an extraordinary piece of signed, Southern pottery. Minor roughness to rim
and base. Finished in an overall applied Bristol glaze.
