Unsigned extraordinary
approximate 5 gallon ovoid crock. Sharply and skillfully
incised design depicts birds in a flower tree. Attention to
detail and shading are very evident in this wonderful display of
artistry. If that is not enough, on the back is an equally
executed design of Germanic style tulips. The characteristics
seen in this decoration are very similar to a signed William
Farrar Geddes, NY jug in the Onondaga Historical Society
Collection.
Additional blue accents under the ears. This piece is from a
New York estate and never offered for public sale. There is some
old age spidering below the flower design. Clay separation that
occurred in the making on the very bottom.

example of an early, signed Connecticut potter.
