Thin walled potting and not a production form - probably a one of a kind. The piece is scribed under the glaze, "K. Soper" with "Fort Edward" in a banner below. Signed by the potter, Kingsley Soper, who also worked at the West Troy pottery. Also he is the relative of another Ft Edward pottery, Burtis Soper. Another unique piece from the Soper potters of Ft. Edward.
There are some old surface chips at the rim. Spider line on the very bottom and potter's fingerprints are in the glaze. 6 1/2" 1870Very uncommon form and size from this factory.
There is a tight line at the rim thru the maker's mark. Stack mark at the rim. 6 1/2" 1870Thick blue wreath surrounds the date, "1868".

This is probably an apprentice piece as there are 2 distinct designs. Slip decorated dog head profile with collar perched above the classic Fort Edward bird. This is the last pottery mark for saltglaze stoneware in Fort Edward.
There is some old glaze spidering and glaze loss. There is an interior rim chip on the back and exterior rim chip on the front. Tight clay separation line at the base on the back that occurred in the making. 10 1/2" 1885Dotted long neck bird design perched on a large plume and looking backwards. Blue at the maker's mark.

This decoration is applied in Albany slip, not the traditional cobalt blue. Rare.

The second: Unsigned and overglazed in the making. Both in good condition. 8 1/2" 1870A small pitcher, bean pot, and a blue banded pitcher. All with minor roughness, staining and imperfections in the making.
4 1/2"-9" 1900All in a dark, applied brown/red glaze. The first piece is stoneware in good condition. The next 3 are redware with minor chips in the base.

Glaze imperfections in the making. 9" 1890Deeply impressed maker's mark with incised and blue accent crescents below. Just an exceptional example of an desirable, early American potter. The reeded neck and flared collar also add to the appeal of this small jar.
There are small surface chips at the rim on the right. Imperfections in the making, both very minor. 10 1/2" 1806Scribed under the Albany glaze, "Nellie B. Wilson's Bank from Uncle Jack Meridan June 16, 96". A very uncommon end of day commemorative.
There is a very old, small surface chip at the bottom. 3 1/2" 1896Small touch mark near the rim on one side occurred in the making.
